The Raven Tavern is one of Oxnard’s best new hot spots for lunch and dinner. The Raven Tavern is a “shout out” to all of the old Inns and Taverns in Ireland and England. They are serving up gourmet traditional dishes in a friendly setting that boasts beautiful sunsets and spectacular views of the Channel Islands Harbor. This is by far one of my favorite new restaurants in the Seabridge marina.

It’s not surprising that the Seabridge Marina in Oxnard is one of the top selling communities in the region; with its adjacency to the coast being only one of its amenities. Development in the community of Seabridge began with efforts to commemorate what is known now as The Channel Islands, including islands Santa Barbara and Anacapa, as Channel Island National Monument by President Roosevelt in 1938. The inclusion of the islands Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, and San Miguel, and re-designation as a national park was approved by President Carter in 1980, many years after the original recommendation from the Bureau of Lighthouses in 1932. The interest in the area came as a result of increased attention in the 1930’s, just after Oxnard Beaches became famous on the silver screen. In the same time period, biologist Cockerell was busy taking specimens from around the islands and highlighting their scientific significance. All of the efforts to preserve the islands drew in visitors, who were attracted back as residents by its scenic coastline and idyllic setting.

Activity in this area centers around Seabridge Marina, a full scale marina with a host of amenities, including state-of-the-art individually metered docks, fine dining, and luxurious landscaping. Additional restaurants are located adjacent to the marina, south of the pedestrian bridge that connects Windshore Way to Seabridge Lane. The northern point features a convenient retail center, including everything from a full-scale grocery store to a nail salon. Close to the retail center, on Victoria Ave, the Victoria & Wooley stop on the Gold Coast transit, which offers bus and paratransit services, making it easy to get around. The nearby Oxnard beaches deliver their own addition of activities, and offer the comforts of a state beach, with seasonal lifeguard supervision and restrooms. Channel Islands Harbor brings a variety of events to residents and visitors alike, including a farmer’s market, art festival, and concerts. This makes Seabridge a vibrant and varied community, with serene residential neighborhoods and a world of activity waiting just outside.
